WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Do you struggle with indecision or bad decisions? Proverbs 2:9
Do you struggle with decisions?
TODAY'S PROVERB: Then you will discern what is right and just and fair—every good path. Proverbs 2:9
Do you struggle with indecision? Or, the opposite, do you struggle with making hasty decisions? Both can produce disappointing results.
Interestingly enough, both problems stem from the same issue: trusting GOD for our discernment.
For most of us, the discernment muscle takes time to develop. A few rare souls seem to have a "gut feeling" and are often right, but those times when they aren't can be disastrous.
Whether we get those gut feelings or haven't a clue, our source of discernment is still the same--our loving, Heavenly Father and His Holy Spirit.
It begins in His word--saturating, living, and being in the Bible trains us to recognize His voice. Not just frantically searching for passages that fit our situation, but living there. He may direct us to specific passages, which can activate discernment.
Seeking wise counsel is prudent. This too takes times. And we still have to apply wisdom and discernment.
In order to hear that discernment, we have to be quiet. We have to listen. And sometimes that's the most difficult part. If we're too busy trying to figure out what to do we can miss what He's showing us to do--gently, quietly.
If He tarries in His answer, then wait. If He says, "No." then don't do it. If He opens the doors, walk through them.
It can be scary, but that's where the trust muscle comes in. Need to develop that muscle? Don't worry, we will.
May we discern what is right, my friends.
