What is the difference between the open palm and the extended hand? Great discussion with Daniah as it pertains to giving to others. https://www.facebook.com/tlvbiblesociety/videos/713418135679571/?notif_id=1535718714170544¬if_t=live_video_explicit

Are you opening your palms and hands? P roverbs 31:20--What struck me with this proverb today was the image of palms. Those who study body language have some interesting things to say about "spreading out the palms." It's a universal way of seeking cooperation. So, if we approach someone with palms up, we show that we're trustworthy, honest, and have nothing to hide. It’s a very strong sign of sincerity that we subconsciously accept a s credible. It's also why people who hide their palms while conversing can seem a little suspicious. So, why does the Proverbs 31 woman spread her palms to the poor? She wants them to know she is trustworthy and vulnerable, too. It's a way of connecting, not as benefactor to the needy, but as equals in GOD's eye. When she extends her hands, I believe this is the act of giving. So, how does that work with us? When we give to those in need, are we vulnerable with an intent to truly connect as we give? Or do we give ...

What effect comes from your cause? Proverbs 30:32--This proverb is typically overlooked as merely the preface to verse 33: "For as churning milk produces butter, and twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife." But, really it worth reviewing on its own merits. Today's proverb is similar to verse 33 in that it is what I call the cause and effect theme. If you do this, then something will happen as a res ult. It's a combination of action and reaction. Causality is what connects one process to another. Whole academic disciplines can find their foundations in cause and effect. Honestly, I think it simply is how GOD logically set up the universe; so of course it shows up in the Proverbs as well throughout Scriptures. However, what's different about verse 32 is that the action produces another action, that may produce a different, unexpected reaction. In fact, the verse doesn't indicate what the reaction/effect will be. What do ...

Who's in charge? Proverbs 29:26--When I think of this proverb, I think of a person who believes they need someone in power to help them find justice. Perhaps they've tried to get movement on their own or with other's assistance, but things are moving too slowly. They believe, the only way to really make it happen more quickly it to seek the person in charge and plead their case. Surely there is a way to avoid the "red tape" and get what we need now, right? The thing is, we already know someone in power. Our Heavenly Father. When we step outside His purview and attempt to take matters into our own hands, we run the risk of creating more of a mess than we may already be in. Someone once said: "The best things are never arrived at in haste. GOD is in no hurry, His plans are never rushed." I believe that's true. His plan may be to wait. Or in talking to someone who may not be influential, but knows ...
