WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Can you sit still? Proverbs 8:32
Can you sit quietly?
TODAY'S PROVERB: “So now, children, listen to me! Blessed are those who keep my ways." Proverbs 8:32
One of the young parents in our congregation came for dinner. Their son is about 18 months old, and we are enamored with this little boy.
After dinner we sat in the living room and talked. Meanwhile the little guy entertained himself and us.
As the evening wore on, he sat next to his mommy and watched my husband. After a few minutes he began imitating Bob. My husband was delighted, and the little guy so joyful.
It was a sweet time of fun and bonding between the two of them.
When a squirming little body is still, and those bright eyes focus on you in anticipation, you can feel the sacred moment. It's the precious place of revelation and learning and connection.
There are those moments when we need to climb into our Abba's lap. Then there are the times we face him and watch as He shows us His ways.
I think GOD loves both moments. But there's a special bonding with Him when we sit quietly, in rapt anticipation in that Sacred Place. Our Heavenly Father will reveal new insights that come from His eternal cache of wisdom in those times.
As His babies, when we're still and in hopeful anticipation, I imagine the love He has for us shines a little brighter. His smile a little wider. And we walk away wiser and ready to meet the day. Then, just as ready the next day to learn again.
May we sit still and listen, my friends.
