WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Are your "pipes" clean? Proverbs 3:5-6
Do you have clogged "pipes"?
TODAY'S PROVERB: Trust in ADONAI with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways Acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
This passage reminds me of my brother. My brother is a plumber. It's his business to ensure that pipes are installed properly, and that those pipes are free of anything that may clog or block them.
The reason why I think of my brother when I read these verses is that our hearts are like pipes. Once those pipes are installed, Living Waters can flow through them.
When we rely on our own understanding, we clog them. Not right away. Little by little. Until, one day they are completely blocked and we wonder why we don't sense GOD's presence.
I could go on with all sorts of plumbing analogies, but suffice it to say, if you've ever had blocked pipes, you know how it affected your household. And what it took to clean it out.
My brother has lectured me repeatedly about what can and shouldn't go down a sink.
What I allow into the flow of the LORD's Living Waters will either clog His Spirit, or allow Him free reign in my life.
Pride, fear, greed, unforgiveness, stubbornness, jealousy, and anger are some of the gunk that slows the flow.
Faith, gratitude, joy, worship, repentance, forgiveness, and love are the fruits of a redeemed life that flow freely in our life.
When we trust in ADONAI with all our heart, the flow of His Spirit will make our paths straight. And that's a good thing.
