WISDOM'S JOURNEY: How do you want to be remembered? Proverbs 20:7

What type of spiritual legacy as you leaving behind?

TODAY'S PROVERB: A righteous person walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him. Proverbs 20:7

What spiritual legacy do we leave behind?

If we could examine the fruit of all we do, what we believe is most meaningful to us, what would it be?

These are good questions, but a spiritual legacy is what is meaningful to those we leave behind--not necessary what is most meaningful to us. And that caused me to ponder a bit.

Leaving behind money and property are certainly helpful to those we leave behind. But, if our life was devoted to earning these things at the expense of time with those we love, how great of an inheritance is that, really?

I am known as someone with an orderly, clean home. For many years, it was difficult to offer my home in hospitality because I was afraid of the disorder guests might cause and I wondered what others thought of me. People stayed and visited with us, but it wasn't as comfortable as I knew it could be.

There came a time when someone who needed sanctuary visited. They were so grateful to have a safe and peaceful place, that I saw how our home could be more than a beautiful house, but a home that demonstrated the beauty of GOD's love and peace.

Today, our home is still orderly and clean, but it's an offering and gift to my husband and anyone invited in. Rather than their experience being remembered as my keeping a tidy home, hopefully their memory will be of being pampered and loved and sensing GOD's presence. That's the spiritual legacy I would be honored to share.

What will live on in the hearts of others in our life? Our children? Our neighbors? Our friends?

What impact of GOD's love in our life is big enough to bloom in others' lives?

Whether we're teachers, letter-writers, authors, hosts, visitors to prisons or those in nursing homes, bringers of soup and meals to the sick--whatever GOD has gifted us to do--live it out loud, each and every day.

It's how I want to be remembered, how about you?

May we leave a spiritual legacy, my friends.
