What is your wisdom yield?


TODAY'S PROVERB: For her trade-value is better than silver, and her yield better than fine gold. Proverbs 3:14

The TLV's translation of today's proverb is very interesting. The use of "trade-value" and "yield" are stock terms.

It's not coincidental that stock trading employs wisdom, discernment, knowledge and understanding. Traders who are wise AND have integrity are trustworthy and do well for their clients. Traders who have experience are not driven emotionally by the highs and lows. They watch trends and understand how each product reacts to circumstance.

Fortunately for us, wisdom is a lot less complicated, yet it yields so much more. It's value is in the fact that it knows how to operate in this world. Why? Because GOD created this world, and His wisdom is built to operate in it.

A trader of stocks, bonds, annuities, etc., employs the knowledge they've learned over time, every day. If they aren't prudent, if they're not observant, they will miss the subtle signs of trouble, or the elusive indicators of opportunities for growth. They must live their knowledge and understanding to employ the wisdom to do well--to know when to risk and when to be safe.

I don't know about you, but I need to be reminded of not only the basics of wisdom, but also the subtle nuances to help me through unique challenges that occur in my life. Every day.These build my discernment and understanding muscles.

The imagery of stock values also reminds us of the parable of the "talents." (Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 19: 12-27) There is "risk" in growth. By employing wisdom, we can be watchful for those opportunities to grow our "talents" for GOD's kingdom. Whether we double or trip our talents, we're expanding His yield in this world. And that good for all.

May we take stock in wisdom's yield, my friends.

TODAY'S PROVERB: ...to deliver you from a seducing woman—a wayward wife with seductive words, who forsakes the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Proverbs 2:16-17 Infidelity. The last few generations tend to think infidelity was something they created. For certain they have developed it into an art form using film, music, literature, and now, social media. Throughout Scrip ture and history, women have played as much of a role in this sin as men. Honestly, as women, we should know better. These days, women tend to look at fornication and adultery as their rights -- their choice. WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Are you lame or reliable? Proverbs 25:19

Are you lame or reliable? TODAY'S PROVERB: Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is confidence in the unfaithful in time of trouble. Proverbs 25:19 I have a "trick" ankle. There appears to be no rhyme or reason when it decides to give out. I'll take a step and it's like the bones turn to rubber. A misstep on stairs or a ladder or while carrying something can be treacherous. If I knew what caused the weakness then I could avoid  placing demands on it. But, alas, I don't know, so I can never fully trust it. Today's proverb counsels us about "trick ankle" people. Do you have people like this in your life? For the most part, they are reliable, but at unpredictable -- and inevitably important moments -- they are not reliable. Even when we forgive them for these events, we're still unsure if we can depend on them. It leaves a small residue on our ability to trust them completely -- at least for a season.
