Do you have "stinkin' thinkin'?"
TODAY'S PROVERBS: He guards the paths of justice, and protects the way of His kedoshim [His Saints--Us!]. Proverbs 2:8
Our journey is fraught with challenges. Some of our making, some caused by others unintentionally, some caused by others intentionally.
These challenges will either resolve us to stay on GOD's path or cause us to question Him and His goodness. We may even lose our way.
Do you have a "default" reaction when disappointments or tragedies occur?
When bad things happen to me involving my family, my default reaction is to question GOD's love for me. Not that He is sovereign or in control. I rarely question why. However, that "stinkin' thinkin'" I'm guilty of is questioning how He could love me. In the ba-zillions of details He oversees, did He forget me because I am unforgettable?
It's at those moments when I must purpose myself to pause--to stop that line of thinking. It's my responsibility to remember. Remember all that He has done for me. Remember His word. Remember the truth. I'm not worthy because of what I do, but who I am--His child.
Once, I get past that thinking, then I can address the specific event. Then, I remember that He has already seen this moment in time and has already seen the outcome.
I remember when the LORD effectively said to me, "Terri, do you really think I'm surprised by what just happened? Am I wringing My hands in worry? Wondering, 'What in the world am I going to do?'" That was a pivotal moment for me. And, frankly I remind myself of that anytime I default to the wrong thinking.
Life is messy and it may feel like things are out of control. But, GOD does indeed guard the paths of justice and protects the way of His saints--us.
If we're in the midst of a trial, it's important to remember that victory comes AFTER the battle--not before. Miracles wrought in the midst of bitter battles are the sweetest. That's something only our Heavenly Father can do. And He does it because, well because He loves us.
May we abide in the knowledge of who He is and who we are to Him, my friends.
