Are you trying to be something you weren't created to be?

TODAY'S PROVERB: Four things on earth are small, yet they are exceedingly wise... Proverbs 30:24

I got a spark of a revelation this morning.

First, let's look at the context of this proverb. This verse begins a couplet that speaks of the wonders of GOD's creatures, and the lessons we can learn from them.

[Okay, so my revelation isn't all that, since these verses were intended to spark insights. Sigh.]

In verses 25-28, the ants, coneys, locusts, and lizards all have a type of wisdom built into their instinct. This wisdom is necessary for them to survive. If they chose to ignore that wisdom, they're chances of living to see the next day are greatly reduced. Just think about that for a moment.

Now, think of this: we humans, were designed in the image of GOD. We were designed to love and worship Him. It's our instinct.

But, we also have Free Will. We can choose to ignore how GOD made us. We can choose to ignore how He wired us.

Or, perhaps things from our past caused us to rewire ourselves. Some trauma, or repetitive lie that made us think we had to use a different instinct. Be someone we aren't.

What if a bunny decided to change its instinct to that of a lizard? The bunny might be able to survive, but it would never be who it was created to be.

Without choosing to follow the instincts GOD placed in us, we'll never be who He created us to be. We may be able to limp along, but the places in us that can only be filled by our Heavenly Father will be unfilled. We'll always be less.

To be all we're designed to be is a choice made on the battlefield of life--every day, all day. It will never be easy. Nevertheless, if we listen to the instinct GOD built in us, it will be amazing.

May we be all He created us to be, my friends.
