Are you missing your "keys?"


Proverbs 8:17--Until I learned the secret, I used to misplace my keys--a lot. Without those keys, I couldn't drive my car or get in and out of my home.

Obviously, eventually I would find them, but there was usually some drama until I did. Or worse, I would be late for an appointment and have to say why. Drama and embarrassment--not fun.

The secret to not losing my keys, I finally discovered was profoundly simple. I only have ONE place to store them. One, not wherever I lay them down. It's rare that I misplace them today which reduces the drama in my life. Which makes me and everyone else around me happy.

It made me think about this proverb. Earnestly seeking wisdom. Do we seek wisdom with the same fervency as we seek our keys?

Wisdom is more than the key to an abundant life of faith. It's the vehicle to an ongoing relationship with the Creator of the Universe--our Heavenly Father.

Do we love our keys? We might love our car or our home, but we don't generally have affection for our keys. They are a means of entry to what we care about.

I think, perhaps, we sometimes think of wisdom as our keys--a means of entry into GOD's wisdom. But this wisdom we live each day is more than a key. It's the journey itself. Living wisdom is the key, vehicle, GPS, fuel, maintenance and means to the journey of this life.

Chapter 8 of Proverbs is so elegantly written. It's a picturesque peek into wisdom's appointment in the universe and her role in GOD's plan for us. Wisdom is an eye witness to creation and shares her awe of our amazing GOD. It's really pretty powerful that our instructor was with GOD when He created the universe.

So, seeking wisdom earnestly means we respect GOD's wisdom enough to pursue her--every day. And, guess what, we know right where to find her.

May we earnestly seek GOD's wisdom, my friends.

Are you being diverted? TODAY'S PROVERB: Do not turn to the right or to the left. Divert your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:27 I love flying at night. Are you a voice for God's covenant? TODAY'S PROVERB: ...to deliver you from a seducing woman—a wayward wife with seductive words, who forsakes the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Proverbs 2:16-17 Infidelity. The last few generations tend to think infidelity was something they created. For certain they have developed it into an art form using film, music, literature, and now, social media. Throughout Scrip ture and history, women have played as much of a role in this sin as men. Honestly, as women, we should know better. These days, women tend to look at fornication and adultery as their rights -- their choice. We can justify and defend all we want, but the truth is that it all boils down to this: our choice is whether we sin or don't sin. Not a popular thing to say. WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Are you lame or reliable? Proverbs 25:19

Are you lame or reliable? TODAY'S PROVERB: Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is confidence in the unfaithful in time of trouble. Proverbs 25:19 I have a "trick" ankle. There appears to be no rhyme or reason when it decides to give out. I'll take a step and it's like the bones turn to rubber. A misstep on stairs or a ladder or while carrying something can be treacherous. If I knew what caused the weakness then I could avoid  placing demands on it. But, alas, I don't know, so I can never fully trust it. Today's proverb counsels us about "trick ankle" people. Do you have people like this in your life? For the most part, they are reliable, but at unpredictable -- and inevitably important moments -- they are not reliable. Even when we forgive them for these events, we're still unsure if we can depend on them. It leaves a small residue on our ability to trust them completely -- at least for a season.
