Are you "blinking?"

Proverbs 7:26--Chapters 5,6, and 7 of Proverbs are those uncomfortable themes about seduction, fornication, and adultery. But, we've learned that there are spiritual components to seduction that apply to all of us, because we're all tempted by something.

Before we blink past this proverb, there's something in this passage that caught my eye and heart. I hope it will get us thinking.

The victims of seduction. Those in real-life adultery situations are indeed victims as well as their families.

They are victims in the sense that there will be repercussions for their actions--their horribly poor decision-making skills. Painful ones. Proverbs 5:11 speaks of diseases and death. Today's verse does as well.

Don't blink.

So, that's sexual sin. We're too smart to fall into that situation, right? We're wise enough to see the pitfalls, yes?

But, I was thinking. What are things we might do everyday that are not wise? Serious things that place us in danger, but are not sins? Unwise decisions we make where we could fall victim to serious repercussions?

According to the Center for Disease Control, there are still nearly 4 million people who smoke cigarettes. Of those souls, nearly half are dealing with smoke-related diseases.

According to the National Highway Safety Administration, of the poor people who were killed on America's highways, 48% were not wearing restraint devices.

According to the National Safety Council, 1.6 million crashes each year are because of driving while using a cell phone. One out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving. Nine people each day are killed.

What unwise lifestyles and decisions do we make that can bring us down as victims? If we ask the LORD this question, I'm thinking He will let us know. Why? Because the last thing He wants is for us to be victims. Especially something that we could avoid by making wise life choices.

May we seek the LORD for any unwise lifestyles, my friends.
