Will you stand before "kings?"

Proverbs 22:29--I like this passage. It challenges me to think outside the box and to view honing the gifts GOD has given me as important to His plan.

It's probably unlikely that most of us will be presented to a king, queen, prince, princess, president, or other head of state, but that doesn't mean we can't impact the life of someone of influence.

Take Edward Kimball, for an example. Ever heard of him? Probably not.

Kimball was a Sunday school teacher who not only prayed for the rowdy boys in his class but also sought to win each one to the LORD personally.

One young man, in particular, didn’t seem to understand what the gospel was about so Kimball confronted him with the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus. That young man was Dwight L. Moody. In his lifetime, Moody touched two continents for GOD, with thousands professing the Messiah through his ministry.

But the story doesn’t end there. Actually that’s where it begins. Under Moody, another man’s heart was touched for GOD, Wilbur Chapman. Chapman became an evangelist who preached to thousands. One day, a professional ball player attended one of Chapman’s meetings, and behold, Billy Sunday was converted.

Sunday quit baseball and eventually began his own outreaches. Through Sunday's evangelistic events, another young man came to faith, Mordecai Ham.

Ham was a scholarly man with a bit of a dramatic flare. When he came to Charlotte, North Carolina, a sandy-haired, lanky young man, then in high school, vowed that he wouldn’t go hear him this strange man preach, but Billy Frank decided to attend.

That night Billy Frank was intrigued by what he heard and made the decision that would change the lives of millions. Billy Frank is probably better known as Billy Graham.

We never know when our simple gifts and skills can can insert us into an event that will change the world. That Sunday School teacher didn't set out to save millions, he set out to change one young man at a time with the gifts and skills GOD had given him.

When we're faithful in the small things, we never know if there will be an exponential increase. (Luke 16:10-- “One who is faithful in the smallest matters is also faithful in much...")

There's an old saying that goes, "You can count the apples on the tree, but who can count the number of apples in the seed?"

Whatever GOD has gifted us to do, do it well and with honor unto Him. And who knows, He may allow us to influence a "king."

May we stand before "kings," my friends.
