Do we do?
Proverbs 21:3--A large portion of the first five books of the Bible (the Torah) center around the sacrificial system. After the Law was given on Mount Sinai, the sacrificial system was explained and commanded by GOD. It was the center and heart of Jewish national life.
Through the daily sacrifice of animals, GOD was burning into the heart of every person an awareness of their own sin. Through His grace and mercy, He provided a means of covering sins so that they could be in right standing with Him.
It was a pattern for the people to know that sin comes at a cost. An innocent animal paid the price.
These sacrifices pointed us all--Jews and the nations--to the atoning sacrifice of the Messiah. The eternal sacrifice.
So, sacrifices are important, right? Why would righteousness and justice be even more acceptable to GOD?
To be righteous is to be morally right and justifiable. To practice justice is to be impartial and fair, and to seek that justice for everyone.
When we do righteousness and justice we are living out our redeemed life. We don't simply accept Yeshua (Jesus)'s suffering and death on the cross and go about our business. We live out our gratitude by living a life that makes Him proud.
Does this mean we'll be perfect? NO! When we mess up--and yes, indeed we will--He's there to forgive us, pick us up, and set us back on the path.
So, even through our redemption from sin does not rest on our shoulders, our willingness to live His commands as best we can is what He longs for.

In Jeremiah 31:32, His heart and longing shines through:
We will do His word because we love Him back and His word is in our hearts. How beautiful is that?
May we do righteousness and justice, my friends.
