Are you rolling back the scroll?
Proverbs 1:30--Here we are again, my friends. It's the first of the month and we've "rolled the scroll" back to chapter 1. Will our Heavenly Dad show us something new this month? Deeper insights? A better understanding of how to live out this wisdom journey?
Yes.
The journey is as easy as climbing Mount Everest, and yet anyone can take the journey. It begins with the first step, and continues with the next step. It's following and living God's word, especially the book of Proverbs.
What does it mean to live the Proverbs? It means our life will change.
- We'll be accountable to the most amazing insights.
- We'll see the wisdom of discipline.
- We'll hunger for righteousness and justice.
- We'll develop discernment, discretion, and the old-fashioned word, prudence.
What happens if we don't listen? What happens if we think we've covered everything we need to know? That it's time to move on and "study" something else? What if we find other things more interesting?
Our wisdom journey is for a lifetime. Living Proverbs means we'll always discover new insights and ways to live out our faith in practical, purposeful ways. And, if we need to review again and again one particular lesson, we buck up and do it.
One of the first acts of listening is to take wise counsel. So, today, my friends, take this counsel: Read a chapter of Proverbs each day--for the rest of your life.
You'll never be sorry. You'll forever be grateful. I know I am.
May we continue to travel wisdom's journey, my friends.
