Is something trying to pull you off your path?

Proverbs 7:12--This is another cautionary tale of an adulteress who prey in particular on the young.

She has a relentless, almost supernatural ability to coerce. She appears like lightening wherever her victim is.

It bears noting here that the naive youth (vs. 7) is out at night, alone (vs.9). He is especially vulnerable. Why? Not just because of his age. It's because he has wandered into the tempter's territory.

So is the way of temptation--at any age.

We step off our path to "check something out" in a territory we are not called to walk. Once we do this, we are susceptible to the wiles of the tempter.

The link that pops up on our computer. The book with the amorous figures. The offer of one more drink for the road--or to stay a little longer away from our family.

There are so many paths that try to draw us away from our calling. Some may even be well-meaning. But, anything that draws us away from our Kingdom work, is still suspect.

Our lesson is to stay put. Our journey is treacherous as it is without the detours that take us off course, or worse, draw us away from our Heavenly Father.

Still, if we've been detoured, even if it is has been for years, call out to our Father. He's but a cry away. He will reach out and set our feet back on the path. Why? Because we're His children and He loves us.

May we stick to the path from this day forward, my friends.
