How do you store up knowledge?

Proverbs 10:14--Why do people store up provisions? We might think the primary reason we store up is for emergencies like storms, earthquakes, or other natural disasters.

Living in Missouri and Kansas--Tornado Alley--we knew it was prudent to take the time to purchase extra staples for storage: non-perishable foods, toiletries, and bottled water.

But, there are other reasons why we store up. Like:
  • food for the unexpected guest;
  • provisions for those in need;
  • easy meals because we're just too tired to go grocery shopping after work.

It's wise to store up. But how does one do that with knowledge? In a way, the same way we store up provisions.

We store up knowledge when we take the time to learn information that is meaningful and relevant to our life and others.

It's impossible to know every critical life contingency--illness, death, loss of job, divorce, etc. However, there are the spiritual staples we can have on hand.

Studying GOD's word is wonderful, helpful, necessary. From Genesis to Revelation there is a cornucopia of spiritual nourishment and priceless treasures.

But, I want to challenge you to add another layer of preparation--LIVE GOD's WORD:
  • By living Proverbs and Psalms each day we store up knowledge, praise, gratitude, and edification for the future.
  • Following Israel's journey in Genesis to Deuteronomy (the Torah) each week gives us incredible insights into our humanity--the good and bad--and GOD's unfailing love and mercy as He teaches us how to become His.
  • Then, following Yeshua's (Jesus) journey in the daily reading of the Gospels as He ratifies His Father's New Covenant (Jeremiah 31), and prepares His Jewish followers to become fishers of men.

Living these three categories of GOD's word consistently, along with our regular studies, will fill those storehouses with knowledge and wisdom. We don't have to worry about emergencies because we KNOW our Provider. And that's a pretty amazing thing!

May we "store up" His knowledge, my friends.
