Do we hold tightly?
Proverbs 4:13--How does one hold tightly to instruction?
When I think of this verse, I picture holding my daughter's hand when she was young. We held hands not just for sentimental reasons, but at times for security, especially in crowds. I didn't want to lose her.
If things were potentially dangerous, I would lift her and hold her tight. Nothing would come between us--if I could help it.
The instructions for living a life of faith and commitment are complex and never ending. We find these guides in the Bible, especially in Proverbs. But finding them is only the first step to living them. Living them means we have to hold tight.
Holding onto them each day means they are part of us. We love GOD's word and instruction and guard this instruction in our heart.
Holding tight is out of security, because we are secure is GOD's love and holiness. Holding tight means we cherish His word, not just because we're attracted to wisdom. Attractions come and go, but true knowledge comes with commitment and faith. And we always hold tight and protect what we cherish.
May we hold tightly to GOD's instruction, my friends.
