What do you see?
Proverbs 17:24--Like so many of the proverbs, there are many ways to interpret this verse. Which is why the Book of Proverbs is so deep and relevant.
For today's passage, I am reminded of our easy access to innumerable news outlets from around the world. I get overwhelmed with the segments showing the poverty, the need, the injustice. Do you?
Does GOD want us to ignore it? Worry about it? Do something?
Great questions. So what are the answers?
I've come to the conclusion--at least for me-- that the answers depend on what GOD has called us to do.
I know folks who are called out to fight injustice all around the world.
I know folks who run a homeless shelter in a major city.
I know folks who bring meals to those who are sick and visit people in the hospital.
I don't think GOD wants us to ignore the hurting in the world. But He doesn't want us worrying or running off without His anointing.
He will let us know what we are called to do--and when we're called to do it. It could be work in a Third World country, or our next door neighbor.
When we hear about or see a need we can't do anything for--pray. Pray for those souls in peril and pray that GOD will raise up those called to help. Then pray for those in the trenches helping.
Who knows, we may be one of those He calls some day. In the meantime, help is needed where we are. With GOD's wisdom and understanding we'll know.
May we seek GOD's wisdom for those in need, my friends.
