Are your children being enticed?
Proverbs 1:10-19--There's something about ganging up on someone weaker that makes some people feel strong and invincible. As we can see by today's Proverbs, this is a very old sin. A sin that has only grown in strength with the breakdown of families and a lack of respect for authority.
It's heartbreaking. Gangs. Drug Dealers. Violence. If we think just because we live in a nice neighborhood our children are not at risk by gang influence we're naive.
These days children as young as 12 have been arrested for dealing in hard drugs for their gangs. Young people from good homes are being pulled into a life of violence.
As we roll back to chapter one of Proverbs, it's good to remember the importance of teaching our children the importance of wisdom.
Whether at home or in a classroom; whether our own children or loved ones or students, feeding these precious souls the words of life, wisdom, and hope may one day save their lives.
Sit with your children and read Proverbs with them. Discuss the secrets to a successful, stable, and Godly life. Learn with them and be all the better for it.
May we share wisdom's journey with the children, my friends.
Proverbs 1:10-19--My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in.
Suppose they say: “Come with us!
Let’s lie in wait for blood!
Let’s ambush the innocent—for no reason!
Let’s swallow them alive like Sheol—
still healthy, as they go down to the Pit!
We’ll find all sorts of valuable things,
we’ll fill our homes with loot!
Throw your lot in with us—
we’ll all have one wallet.”
My son, do not go along with them,
keep your foot from their path—
for their feet run to evil
and they are swift to shed blood.
Surely it is useless to spread a net
in the eyes of all winged creatures!
But they lie in wait for their own blood.
They ambush their own lives.
Such is the fate of all gaining by violence.
It takes the life of its possessor.
