Are you hindered when you run?

Proverbs 4:12--Have you ever had those nightmares where you're running from something, but your legs aren't working? No matter how hard you pump those appendages whatever is chasing you draws closer and closer. Yikes.

I used to hate those dreams. I felt helpless to whatever was trying to cause me harm. Until a few years ago.

Dream psychologists--yes, there is such a thing--say that this phenomenon is either emotional or physical. It can signify a lack of self-esteem and self-confidence. It may also reflect our actual state of REM paralysis while in the dream state. It can also mean we're running away from our problems.

Before you think I'm into all the dream whifty-ness, let's see what the Bible says. In Job 33:14-17, Job explains why GOD must sometimes resort to dreams to tell us something:
"Indeed, God speaks once, even twice, yet no one perceives it.'In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, as they slumber in bed,Then He opens the ears of menand seals their instruction,in order to turn a man from his conductand to cover a person’s pride.'"

This proverb and this passage in Job has been a comfort to me. When I have those "running" dreams, I go to the LORD and inquire of Him whatever is hindering me.

I know that He is taking extra measures to let me know there is a sin or misguided understanding that is hindering me from running this race. Which is pretty amazing when you think about it.

There will always be trials and tribulations in this world, but Jesus has promised He has overcome the world. We win! He will give us everything we need to finish this race. Maybe even dreams.

May we run well, my friends.
