What do your eyes say?

Proverbs 15:30--The eyes are the window to the soul--or so the saying goes. Is it true?

According to Psychology Today, the eyes actually can tell us the emotional state of a person. "When people are sad or worried, they furrow their brow, which makes the eyes look smaller.

"Yet when people are cheerful, we correctly call them 'bright eyed.' That’s because people raise their eyebrows when they’re happy, making the eyes look bigger and brighter."

When our heart rate increases, whether from joy, fear, interest, or emotional engagement our pupils dilate. This also makes the eye appear larger.

We can fake a smile, even raise our eyebrows to try to bring the smile to the eyes, but we can't fake the dilation of our pupils.

Generally, my emotions show on my face, especially my eyes. If things are not "well with my soul" you'll see it plainly.

And, maybe that's not a bad thing. I want to be transparent--to not hide behind a mask. But really, what I want even more is that joy of the LORD fills my heart and shows in my eyes.

I want the Good News to give me good health--mental, emotional, and physical--all the way to my bones. That only happens when I choose to keep my eyes on Yeshua--Jesus. Then my whole body will be full of His Light. (Matthew 6:22)

May we have bright eyes, my friends.
