Receiving a rebuke? Can I give it back?

Proverbs 9:8--Receiving a rebuke is like getting caught in the rain and embracing it. It's a choice to accept it.

Everyone loves being right. But, being told they are wrong--the correction seldom feels good.

These days, the voices of those claiming to be right are loud and angry . . . And the opinions conflict as loudly as the voices.

In this cacophony of opinion who can hear the still small voice of honest, Godly correction? Who of us can be silent enough to listen for the truth and respond accordingly?

What if the correction comes in the form of a rebuke?

I for one don't enjoy the sting of correction, much less the slap of a rebuke. What I do appreciate is the wake-up call of change in my understanding, my attitude, and my actions.

I'm learning that opinion is not necessarily the same as truth. And while it's important to offer respect to others with different opinions--because, who knows, we could be wrong--ultimately our opinions should reflect the heart of GOD in accordance with the whole of Scripture.

Ultimately, we all want to be right in GOD's eyes. He's the only One who matters. Let His truth rain down whenever and where He wants.

May we receive correction well, my friends.
