Do you try to "help" GOD with His plans?

Proverbs 13:19 (Proverbs 13:19-20)-- Are you waiting for the fulfillment of a promise or dream?

Abraham was promised descendants as numerous as the stars and grains of sand--yet Sarah was barren, and old. (Genesis 15).

Sarah took matters into her own hands because the promise and her lifelong desire to have a child seemed too impossible for her to accomplish. (Genesis 16) Surely GOD meant for another to give her and Abraham a child.

Had she waited, her desire and GOD's promise would have been all the more sweet--and certainly less complicated.

The temptation to "hurry along" our dreams and desires and even GOD's promises to us can sometimes be overwhelming. Our need crowds out faith and patience. It can cause us to twist GOD's word to our purposes.

Inevitably our efforts to control the situation complicates and can even sabotage the fulfillment of those dreams and promises.

Resisting that panicky or manipulative urge to speed things along is not only wise, it's an act of obedience.

May we cooperate with GOD's fulfillment of our desires, my friends. And may the outcome be sweet!
