Proverbs 30--YIKES. This is a scary one, isn't it? GOD doesn't mess around with lies or "almost-truths."
If we stick to what GOD says in the Bible safe. His words are true. So what are ways we can add to His words?
One of the ways we can add to GOD's words is by what we say about Him in our own lives. Our testimonies.
Have you every heard the term "evangelistically speaking?" It's a horrible term actually. Essentially it is exaggerations or embellishments of the truth. For example, a testimony may be made a bit more miraculous or dramatic. It's mostly the truth, just not all the way.
In GOD's eyes, it's adding to His words. It's worthy of rebuke. It can invalidate our testimony as a lie. Is it worth the risk?
Another way is how we project GOD's "image." As sin becomes subjective and accepted norm, it' easy to be tempted to "sell" GOD as a heavenly Santa Claus. Or, we can share our faith and testimony as a Hollywood "happily ever after" without the "living in a fallen world reality."
Who wouldn't want a fairy tale story? But what happens when a new follower of Jesus runs into the inevitable trial and tribulation? Does our rosy testimony set them up for discouragement? Or worse, cause them to doubt His love?
We must be diligent to be truthful and accurate. Our testimony is important. Our stories of His work in our life imperative. Being transparent and real as redeemed children are powerful tools in advancing the Kingdom of GOD.
"They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even in the face of death." (Revelation 12:11, TLV)
And that's a powerful word. Who needs to add to that?
May we keep our words true and keep GOD's word true, my friends.
