DAY 44 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge

Proverbs 13--Who loves to be corrected or disciplined? Uh, not me.

Over the years I've examined my heart about this and I've learned that depending on the situation there can be many roots to why I fight a correction.

The primary reason isn't difficult to discern, pride. But, it can also be fear, impatience, rejection, or confusion.

I've seen people accept correction graciously. Oh, how I admire and respect them.

Generally, my first response is to wiggle out of the situation. Instead of allowing the instruction to sink in, I fight it. Not all correction is appropriate or, well, correct, but until I know for certain I should at least meditate on it and take it to the LORD.

So, how am I overcoming my predilection against correction? I try. And, many times, I fail. But sometimes I succeed. Then I keep trying. My hope is that as I keep trying, it will get easier. I just have to keep at it.

Sometimes, that's all we can do is keep trying with all the energy we can muster. Perhaps, we can use the energy we used to use to avoid correction. In any case, GOD will honor our sincere efforts with His unending grace.

May we be honored, my friends.
