DAY 42 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge
Proverbs 11--Have you ever seen a monkey trap? It's really quite simple: stick a banana in a box or bottle or gourd with with a small opening. The monkey sees or smells the banana, reaches inside, grabs it, and is trapped. The monkey's fist around the banana is now larger than the opening and he can't pull his hand and the banana out.
Why does this work? I mean, the monkey could just let go of the prize and pull out his arm. It's effective because whoever created the device knew the nature of the monkey--the bait was more important than its freedom.
Do we have monkey traps in our life? What are we holding onto that has us trapped? Unforgiveness? Fear? Greed? Alcohol? Drugs? Food? Drama? Self-righteousness?
Because the enemy of our soul knows our nature he is able to devise traps--temptations--that lure us in.
However, we who are redeemed by the blood of Yeshua have the ability to defy our human nature. Our nature may be to want the banana--perhaps we're holding it now--but our Heavenly Abba can help us let it go.
May we let go of the banana, my friends.
Proverbs 11:6--The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are trapped by their desire.
