DAY 6 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge
Proverbs 6
This chapter covers everything from bad business deals, to laziness, adultery, all the way to the classic Seven Deadly Sins.
What stood out for me is the bad business deals. Not so much about the business part, but about my word--my commitments.
Over the years, I've learned--am still learning--that my "yes" should be "yes" and "no" should be "no." (Matthew 5:37) But, even more important, is the decision-making process before I say yes or no.
There's the practical vetting about time, resources, family buy-in and support, but then there's the GOD-Factor where everything should be begin and end.
If after all that, I need to renege on my commitment then I also need to realize it will come at a cost. Embarrassment, a loss of credibility, complications in relationships.
And even though it's painful, these are the life-lessons our Heavenly Father will lovingly, graciously, mercifully walk us through. His goal is always to move us closer to Him, not further away in condemnation. Oh, how He loves us!
May we learn in love and grace, my friends!
Proverbs 6:2--My son, if you have become a cosigner for your neighbor, if you have shaken hands in pledge with a stranger, if you are trapped by your own words, ensnared by the words of your mouth, then do this, my son, and free yourself, since you fell into your neighbor’s hand: Go, humble yourself, plead with your neighbor! Allow no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids. Escape like a gazelle from the hunter’s hand, like a bird from the snare of the fowler. Tree of Life Bible Society Tree of Life Version - TLV
