DAY 21 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge


 Proverbs 21--Three weeks in. How are you doing? Has the LORD shown you insights into your heart? He has sure done that for me--everyday. Some aren't so fun, but, oh how liberating to know He'll never give up on us.

That's why I love, verse 2 and why I chose the iceberg graphic. 


We all know the story of the Titanic, but did you know over 25 ships have sunk as a result of running into icebergs. Five ships since the Titanic. One as recently as 2007. Fortunately, no one perished in that sinking.

With all our sophisticated technology you'd think those sorts of accidents could be avoided. But, icebergs are deceptive. About 90% of the iceberg is submerged. And the longer it floats, the more ice it can accumulate. 

Are we like icebergs? 
  • Is what we are on the surface nothing compared to what's hidden inside us? 
  • Is our thought-life concealed behind a mask of appropriateness?
  • Do our sweet words hide anger or envy? 
  • Does our proficiency or skill distract others from our motivation?
We know GOD sees below the surface. He sees our heart and intent. Right? But, sometimes, I think we believe we can still hide our thoughts from Him. At least, I wonder if we hope we can hide them. We can sure act that way.

What keeps us from being more real, more transparent--reveal that 90% no one sees?

Many reasons, but those of us who truly seek after GOD, it's probably fear. 

If people really knew how angry, insecure, stupid, bitter, sinful, depressed, or hateful we were they would run in the opposite direction. Yes, there's that. But, could the real issue be we don't want our holy, righteous Daddy exploring the recesses of our mind?

In other words, we don't trust Him. We don't trust that He truly loves us enough to not give up, as others' have. That we're not a lost cause.

My friends, fear not. He's not intimidated by our mess. He's actually more familiar with it than we are. He knows the root of every hurt. He knows how to heal us. And what we're not ready to let go of, He is able to make so uncomfortable we'll kick it out with relief. He's our partner in liberation.

All this work for us to be real. To be transparent. To be wholly who He created us to be and wholly His. It takes a lifetime. And our beloved Creator will be with us every step of the way.

May we let Him in, my friends.

Are you being diverted? TODAY'S PROVERB: Do not turn to the right or to the left. Divert your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:27 I love flying at night. Are you a voice for God's covenant? TODAY'S PROVERB: ...to deliver you from a seducing woman—a wayward wife with seductive words, who forsakes the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Proverbs 2:16-17 Infidelity. The last few generations tend to think infidelity was something they created. For certain they have developed it into an art form using film, music, literature, and now, social media. Throughout Scrip ture and history, women have played as much of a role in this sin as men. Honestly, as women, we should know better. These days, women tend to look at fornication and adultery as their rights -- their choice. We can justify and defend all we want, but the truth is that it all boils down to this: our choice is whether we sin or don't sin. Not a popular thing to say. WISDOM'S JOURNEY: Are you lame or reliable? Proverbs 25:19

Are you lame or reliable? TODAY'S PROVERB: Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is confidence in the unfaithful in time of trouble. Proverbs 25:19 I have a "trick" ankle. There appears to be no rhyme or reason when it decides to give out. I'll take a step and it's like the bones turn to rubber. A misstep on stairs or a ladder or while carrying something can be treacherous. If I knew what caused the weakness then I could avoid  placing demands on it. But, alas, I don't know, so I can never fully trust it. Today's proverb counsels us about "trick ankle" people. Do you have people like this in your life? For the most part, they are reliable, but at unpredictable -- and inevitably important moments -- they are not reliable. Even when we forgive them for these events, we're still unsure if we can depend on them. It leaves a small residue on our ability to trust them completely -- at least for a season.
