DAY 16 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge
Proverbs 16--Another delicious feast of knowledge and insights for us to savor and digest. A prominent theme is once again the condition of our heart--our intentions and motives.I'll be sharing my thoughts on that in a few days, but just a little something to nibble on:
The condition of our heart matters. The ideas we allow into our mind affects the condition of our heart. The ideas we entertain will change our heart.
But, today, I wanted to direct to those of you new to the daily Proverbs routine, verses 10-15. At first glance, you might want to just skim over these verses directed toward kings--and that's fine, especially if the LORD is touching your heart with other verses.
However, I just wanted you all to keep in mind a little hint about these particular kingly proverbs.
Although I don't qualify for the job of king, I have benefited from the proverbs concerning kings. I do this by substituting leader, manager, president, teacher, parent--well, you get the idea. Anyone who is responsible for other people can learn valuable lessons from the proverbs concerning kings.
Our "kingdoms" require wise stewardship with wholesome support and wise counselors. In both business and relational situations, we can gain valuable intelligence with these royal verses as we travel this wisdom journey.
And, if we are not quite kings, we are in training. Learning the attributes of a wise leader--and a not so wise leader--is prudent. (Oh, I used prudent!) We may never have a large kingdom, but we may be a trusted adviser to one.
As wisdom enters our heart, it will be our pleasure to know things--to give wise advice. To better "govern" and lead others. And that's worth more than any treasure.
May our "kingdoms" grow wisely, my friends.
