DAY 10 IN THE 91-DAY NEW HABIT CHALLENGE! #ProverbsChallenge

Proverbs 10--We spoke of GOD's bounty of wisdom yesterday. Today's chapter is one of those chapters so full of wisdom morsels we could be eating for weeks!

And, not all that common in chapters of Proverbs, we have a clear theme: the words we speak. A theme that is repeated through Scripture. Why?

Words have impact. Our Creator spoke the Universe into being (Genesis 1). GOD's Word was made flesh in Yeshua/Jesus (John 1). Indeed, words have power.

Our words can encourage or discourage.

Our words can enlighten or confuse.

Our words can buildup  or tear down.

Our words can heal or wound.

The words we speak affect us as well as others. Too many words can create chaos, not enough words can create want. When we are the source of those words, we are responsible for their outcome.

Have you ever felt that tug to not say what you feel compelled to say? Has your heart rate increased because you know you are to say something? That's our discernment muscle kicking in.

I've ignored promptings of the Holy Spirit to not say things and have had to do varying degrees of damage control.

I've ignored promptings to speak, and I must say those unspoken words still hurts today. I know I'm forgiven, but I also know that those moments were my only opportunity and I missed it.

These are the sobering, tough lessons we can learn from. To learn to use our words wisely and in obedience.

May the words of our mouth be acceptable in His sight, my friends. (Psalm 19:15)
